Inane ravings of an irreverent slacker

Troofers (older entry)

Posted by Jeff on July 22, 2008

Dear Person who just won’t spend your Loose Change,

Ok, so the problem I have with 9/11 conspiracy theorists is the same problem I have with all conspiracy theorists. Quite frankly, these days I’d rather debate a christian fundy than one of these 9/11 ‘truth’ jerks. If you want to believe that the government set the whole thing up, fine. If you want to believe that there wasn’t even a PLANE at the pentagon, fine. If you want to believe that we never walked on the fucking moon, fine. Just stop ranting about this shit as if you were absolutely certain, because you are NOT! Nearly every government conspiracy theory I’ve ever seen has been nothing more than a cleverly put together string of logical fallacies. I mean, you’ve got nothing but a ‘God-of-the-gaps’ hypothesis supported by loads of confirmation bias. Instead of using God, like the fundies do, you use the big, bad ‘gubment’.

Granted, some conspiracies MAY turn out to be true, but quite frankly, said truth has ABSOLUTELY NO CORRELATION with the certainty of the conspiracy theorist. An inadequate explanation coupled with a paranoid mistrust of anything government does NOT equate to proof. Hell, it’s not even evidence. So believe what you like, how you like, and to whatever extent you like. Only respect those of us who are just TIRED OF FUCKING HEARING IT. We’ve heard your arguments before, I promise. They weren’t convincing then and sure as hell aren’t going to sound any better when YOU say it. So just go jerk off to Zeitgeistmovie.com a few more times and gaze longingly at your restraining order from Michael Moore, and just stop spewing your tired rhetoric at those of us that who prefer to live in the real world.
